The Bay

The Bay is a deeply personal painting, in memory of a dear friend and mentor the artist John Wilson. In creating this piece, I drew upon the lessons John shared with me about painting, slowing down, observing the world and finding joy in simply being outdoors. The artist within the painting stands on the shore painting the view before him. The artist represents John doing what he loved, painting plein air, surrounded by the beauty of nature. His presence within the work keeps his art alive while also celebrating the passion and generosity with which he shared his knowledge.
