Skyward Reflection
Skyward Reflection
By: Robert Dunn
Dimensions: 660 x 910mm
Medium: True silver halide photographic print on Kodak Endura paper mounted in timber frame with black mat board.
Captured at the remarkable Paul Wild Observatory during the fleeting moments of blue hour, this image showcases the delicate pastel hues that linger after sunset has faded beyond the western horizon. Looking eastward, the scene offers what photographers often describe as a “reverse sunset”, where soft colours illuminate the sky opposite the setting sun. Following recent rainfall and blessed by a perfectly calm evening, 2 of 3 the observatory's telescopes are mirrored in the still water below, creating the illusion of an extra telescope or two. The resulting reflection enhances both the symmetry and serenity of this unique landscape, blending science, nature, and light into a single tranquil moment.
