Gordon’s cyanotype painting explores desire, beauty and the personal value we place on objects. Two hands reach towards a collection of jewellery, creating a sense of longing for something precious and just out of reach. The deep cyan blue contrasts with the glowing white hands and delicate shapes of necklaces, bracelets and chains. Splashes and uneven marks around the edges embrace the unpredictable nature of the cyanotype process. The jewellery becomes more than decoration, representing identity, memories and personal connections. Through the reaching hands, Gordon explores our attraction to beautiful objects and the meanings we attach to them.
